Non Relevant Linkage

As I had mentioned before, quality backlinks is important to gain high Page Rank as external links to your site can be considered an endorsement of your site.

However, it is important to note that if you are being linked to from sites that have no relevance to your content, then that is now considered a negative endorsement and will not raise your ranking in the search engines. If your website is about cars, and the site linking to you is about entertainment news, then that is not considered a quality link. The link still helps your score, but the link would help you score higher if it were from a website whose topics are the same as yours. Hence, you need to ensure all links to your websites are from relevant sites. For example, my mommy blog has blogrolls which mostly consist of parenting blogs.

Do be extra careful of link builders who acquire links from gambling, pharmaceutical or adult themed sites, especially if your site is not of the same theme. All my blogs currently do not accept link exchange from these sites and neither do I sell links to such sites.

I do acknowledge that it is not an easy work increasing linkage to your website but as long as you work hard and strategize correctly, you’ll reap the rewards you want. Good luck and remember, this does not happen overnight.
