Freedom of Speech?

Do you believe that blogging = freedom of speech? I certainly don’t! A blogger is free to express oneself to a certain extent but you don’t get to voice out your opinion freely 100% the time.

I am a little known blogger, yet things I have written have been taken out of context by some other bloggers before. I have been insulted, slammed at, accused of being something I am not.

  • But how did I handle that? Though I knew about it, I kept quiet and did not bother to do anything.
  • Why? Because the accusation was indirect, no naming of names though most of those in the blogosphere knew it was pointed at me. No point starting a war for nothing and no point giving that person extra traffic.

Believe me, when I say there are cliques in the blogosphere and whatever words you put in your posts or action you take are being observed by these network of bloggers. Like in the real world, this virtual world is also full of jealousy, suspicion and back stabbing. Thus, sometimes I feel the need to hold back certain thoughts instead of posting it on my blogs.

So, my opinion is no, there is no such thing as freedom of speech in blogging….What say you?
